Jessie Hickson
Nursing Assistant Teacher
I am Jessie Marie Hickson. I received my LPN training from Florence General School in 1983 and later received my ADN, my RN, degree from Florence Darlington Technical College in 1999. I worked for 27 years at McLeod Health in various areas: neuroscience, stroke unit, and the ER. Then, I transferred to Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where I worked on the Transitional Care Unit (TCU), Critical Care Unit, primarily working in the Step-Down Unit.
My favorite part of nursing was at the bedside, which gave me a chance to get to know my patients and their family members affording me the opportunity to teach about illnesses. Presently, I am employed by Omnipresent Adult Day Care Home Health as a RN supervisor.
I have one daughter, Julia; and two grandsons; Darain and Jabaree. My motto is If I can help someone along the way, then my living will not be in vain.
